Origins for free

Free Origins Sample

All about going green...as long as we're also saving green! So love that Origins will now let you choose a free sample of one of their skincare products when you bring in empty makeup packaging to be recycled. Any brand's welcome, so start gathering up those pots and tubes. And if a free sample's not enough to motivate you (what?!) think about this: according to Origins, consumer product packaging accounts for approximately 1/3 of all landfill waste. Cosmetic and toiletry packaging contributes because even those that could be recycled are often not accepted by community recyclers who stick to materials that are easily recognized - such as soda and water bottles. Have kids, double the tax savings!

How to Save Money on Taxes

There’s a little-known tax deduction you can take if you still have children living at home — namely, you can DOUBLE the tax deduction claimed for your kids.

Instead of giving your kids an allowance, hire your kids to work in your part-time business and pay them an actual salary.

With this scenario, you get two benefits for the price of one — you get to keep the dependency exemption, PLUS you get a tax deduction for the salaries you pay your kids. It’s an easy, legitimate way to beat Uncle Sam at his own game. Take advantage of it!

Most of us grumble about paying our taxes, but the odds are good you’ll be overpaying them at some point in your life.

Case in point: Your property taxes. Find out if you’re overpaying by first visiting your local tax assessor’s office. Get a list of all the tax exemptions to which you’re entitled, along with a copy of your “property record card” and the assessed value of homes in your area.

Then look for mistakes in your assessment. If you find a mistake, submit an appeal. It’s that simple and it can save you quite a bit every year and over time.

Saving with Coupons

Take the coupon section out of the Sunday paper and put it aside for four weeks - don’t even bother to look at it. Four weeks later, open it up and clip everything that’s even remotely of interest, whether you’d buy it normally or not.

At that point, take the wad of coupons to the store and just look at the shelves. Magically, most of those coupons you have will sync up very well with stuff that’s already on sale on the shelves. When you combine the sale price and the coupon, you’ll usually be able to get items for next to nothing.

Will.I.Am

Will.i.am posts on the Black-eyed peas website that you can make 7% profit from album proceeds by embedding a player on your page. Can't hurt to try.
What a concept to prevent pirating. Way to go Will.i.am

Saturday Night Savefest

1.  Go shopping late Saturday night, and look for stuff you use that's on sale.
2.  If you finds it, skips it(!), (stay with me)....but,
3.  if it's sold out - and it often is, since Saturday is the end of the sale (stores let the displays run down, which leads to customers clearing the stocked shelves, which won't restocked until the night shift)
4.  you get a rain check.$
This way, you don't have to buy Corn Flakes until he he actually needs it 3 weeks later. You get it for the sale price of $2.50, not the usual $3.39. You may also wait until the rain check is almost expired to see if a coupon shows up in the Sunday paper. Double savings!
